CY, formerly known as the Chittenden South Partnership for Youth (CSPY), is a community-based organization dedicated to creating a safe, healthy environment for young people. The CY website is designed to help spread the word about who we are and what we do. It is divided into seven categories, each represented by a specific ancient symbol. The idea is that these are our "signs of life."

The "Real Life" symbol is one of the signs in alchemy and early chemistry that means "the essence." Web pages in this section represent what's really going on for young people--basically, the stories of their lives. Many Chittenden South youth have agreed to regularly update this section, so check it out often!

The "Safety Zone" is the St. Hans Cross, or the Cross of St. John. It is a magic ideogram from the viking era which means "sight worth seeing." Web pages in this section are designed to help people who may have issues with alcohol or other drugs. Whether it's their own use, a friend's or a relative's, these pages serve as a resource for finding safety.

The "Facts" symbol is "Fu," Chinese for "the ability to judge between right and wrong." CY does not believe in preaching "just say no to drugs and violence." Instead, we encourage young people to make their own decisions. Obviously, we hope they will be safe and healthy ones! These pages give "the facts" about various kinds of drugs and the prevalence of violence in our local community.

"Transitions" is a symbol used in pre-Columbian America and in Ancient Greece. It stands for "outward migration." The transitions pages are meant to help students navigate their way into--and through--high school. Included on these pages are tips from other teens and words of wisdom about high school life.

The "Parents" sign is taken from Rune lore. It is the rune called "Odal," and it signifies an "immovable object." This section is meant for parents and includes advice and information on raising children. This advice comes from "experts"--meaning those with AND without PhD's!

Finally, the "Links" symbol is a derivative of the alchemy sign for silver but it is pointing upwards. This section provides other worthwhile websites, interesting books, and numbers to call for additional information.
